In a recent email from Helen
I am currently writing 3 to 4 pages on each of several of the early ODOM men who appear on the Orangeburg/Barnwell census as of 1790, e.g. Benjamin Sr., Daniel, Isaac, et al. I try to find records and place them in a timeline with little commentary, letting the records tell the story.
My purpose in compiling these separate family outlines is to clarify my own thinking and to help me verify and or eliminate those who might be my own ancestors. For instance, old Benjamin Odom, Sr. and wife Thamer left NO male descendants of the ODOM name. They had 5 or 6 daughters who left many children, but none of the ODOM name.
